A Chipper is a human mentor. They ask, point and encourage. The hands on the keyboard are always the kid's.
What they do
Circulate between help zones, translate one mission for a 7-year-old and a 13-year-old, and note what they see.
What they never do
Do the work for the kid. A Chipper cannot sign off a step on their own: an adult at CHIP signs, with a written note.
What they note
Eight leadership marks: helped someone, led the table, presented, caught a mistake, finished, did not give up, asked a good question, proposed an idea.
How they prepare
They follow the CHIP Chipper Guide, walk through each mission before it opens, rehearse the 75-minute clock and practice in a room with six fake kids.
Live Chippers, every day.
Chippers are CHIP's human mentors. They are in the campus every afternoon and evening, Eastern Time (ET), and an adult Chipper is always present whenever kids talk.
